Salary: $150,000 – $170,000

Our client is a nonprofit organization focusing on providing career opportunities for individuals reentering society after incarceration, with a particular emphasis on those who have served long-term sentences. By offering resources, training, and support, the nonprofit helps these individuals rebuild their lives, gain meaningful employment, and successfully reintegrate into their communities.

The Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting activities within the organization. This role includes managing financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Controller will report to the CFO and work closely with senior leadership to support the organization’s financial health and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Reporting:

– Prepare and present accurate financial statements in compliance with GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.

– Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.

2. Internal Controls:

– Establish and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard assets.

– Ensure compliance with all financial policies and procedures.

3. Grant Management:

– Oversee the financial management of grants, ensuring proper allocation and reporting.

– Work with program managers to ensure grant compliance.

4. Audit Coordination:

– Coordinate and manage annual audits.

– Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and audit standards.

5. Team Leadership:

– Supervise accounting staff, providing guidance and support.

– Foster a collaborative and efficient work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a non-profit organization.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and non-profit accounting standards.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
