Salary: $65,000-$70,000

Our client is an investment advisory firm with more than $14 billion in assets under management. They are looking for an accounting associate for their Chicago office

Responsibilities

Portfolio Accounting:

  • Assist in reviewing quarterly and monthly net asset values (NAVs) and investor statements for private investment funds.
  • Collaborate with the private investment team to determine internal capital calls and distributions.
  • Coordinate with the fund administrator to initiate capital calls and distributions; conduct an initial review of accounting calculations and verify investor notices for accuracy.
  • Gather and distribute information and notices from underlying managers, ensuring effective communication with internal and external teams, including private investment, finance, operations, and fund administration.
  • Review management fees and performance measurement to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Payment Controls:

  • Support cash movement authorizations, including payables, management fees, subscriptions, redemptions, and distributions, in coordination with the operations team.
  • Assist in managing private fund credit facilities, including compiling supporting calculations for draw amounts, initiating payoffs, and ensuring accurate monthly interest deductions.
  • Monitor capital calls, distributions, and investments related to underlying managers, coordinating cash flows as needed.
  • Work with the Finance team and external tax providers to facilitate estimated and annual state tax payments for private funds.

Experience, Education, and Skills:

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance. Bachelor degree in accounting or finance.
  • Strong financial acumen with business analysis and reporting skills.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office; general ledger experience preferred. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to specialized systems and software.
